Core and Initiatives.
"Cores and initiatives - combining them ensures a balanced and forward-moving approach essential for our continuous prosperity. We are committed in our pursuit of goals, recognizing that diligence yields results, fueled by our passion for what we do"
Preservation
Preservation starts with the ‘āina as it is a fundamental element of our culture, and the principle of 'Malama ‘Āina' guides us to care for and honor the land, shaping our way of life. With deep roots and ancestral ties to the ‘āina, our kuleana and commitment extends to revitalizing native plants, mirroring our efforts to reclaim our language and preserve other cultural practices." This small parcel of land marks the beginning of our efforts to plant a diverse array of native species. These plants will play a crucial role in fostering growth and restoring the ecosystem, countering the impact of invasive plants that have spread widely in Hawaii's wild landscape.
Restoration
Restoration will unfold, one piece of land at a time, as we aim to expand across the islands, returning these lands to the people. Our vision is for the land to be a haven for everyone- a lush, green space to learn and immerse in the beauty of Hawai‘i. As we restore the plants, we're also revitalizing Hawaiian practices to transform Hawai‘i into more than just beaches and hikes. Visitors will be able to witness the authentic beauty of Hawai‘i and recognize the full range of our capabilities. Hoa‘āina will serve as a destination for individuals to visit, learn, practice, and teach the Hawaiian way. Our goal is to protect and nurture the culture so it can be passed down from generation to generation.
Education
Education holds immense significance, and as the saying goes, knowledge is power. We are committed to collaborating with notable individuals in our community to create specialized programs encompassing agriculture, ‘Ōlelo, Hawaiian studies, and even financial literacy. We all share a belief in being lifelong learners, recognizing the valuable lessons we can gather from one another, particularly to support the upcoming generations. This is why we strive to provide a proper and secure space for learning as they shape the future of Hawai‘i.Whether residing here or in the diaspora, they will have the ability to perpetuate the Aloha spirit and stay connected to the ‘āina.
Sustainability
The notion of a self-sustaining Hawai‘i has been a longstanding question, often overshadowed by the historical development that predates the overthrow of the Hawaiian Kingdom. Over the years, Hawaii's integration into the United States has steered it toward a predominant focus on tourism. Relying on a constant influx of tourists, military bases, and the importation of 97% of our food might give the impression of dependency. However, we hold a different perspective and believe in the potential for change. In today's world, embracing new and modern practices offers Hawai‘i the opportunity to reclaim its essence and return to being the Hawai‘i we envision.
